How to Reheat Your Mantou for the Perfect Bite

There's nothing quite like biting into a perfectly soft, fluffy mantou — but what happens when you need to reheat it? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Follow these simple tips to bring your mantou back to life, just as delicious as when it was freshly made.

🥢 Method 1: Steaming (Best Method)

Steaming is the gold standard for reheating mantou. It restores the soft, pillowy texture without drying it out.

  1. Fill a steamer pot with water (not too much, just the amount that wont dry up at the end of steaming would do) and bring it to a boil.
  2. Place your mantou in the steamer basket, leaving space between each bun.
  3. Steam for 3-5 minutes for Mini Buns & 10- 12 minutes for our usual size buns until heated through.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy!

🍳 Method 2: Pan-Fry (For a Crispy Twist)

Want a little crunch? Pan-frying gives your mantou a golden, slightly crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft.

  1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat with a small amount of oil or butter.
  2. Place the mantou flat-side down and cover with a lid.
  3. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  4. Enjoy with a dipping sauce of your choice!

Short on time? The microwave works in a pinch, though it's best to add moisture to prevent the bun from drying out.

  1. Wrap your mantou in a damp paper towel.
  2. Microwave on medium heat for 30–60 seconds.
  3. Check and add more time in 15-second intervals if needed.

Tip: Don't overheat — it can make the mantou tough and chewy.

❄️ Storing Your Mantou

For best results, store your mantou in an airtight container or zip-lock bag:

  • Room temperature: Consume within 1 day.
  • Refrigerator: Up to 3 days (not advisable as it would dry up the buns).
  • Freezer: Up to 1 month. Defrost for at least 15 mins before reheat if time allows.
